Regional Official Plan Review – Have your say!

Regional Official Plan Review The Regional Official Plan (ROP) is a land use policy document created by Halton Region to shape the Region’s future growth and development. The Regional Official Plan Review (ROPR) is currently underway. It will impact local planning in Oakville, Burlington, Milton and Halton Hills.Halton Region is currently asking for feedback on a set of five Discussion Papers that may be of interest:·     

Regional Urban Structure (Integrated Growth Management Strategy): Urban system and growth management policies to guide population and job growth.·    

 Rural and Agricultural System: Agricultural policies to support the agricultural system in Halton.·    

 Natural Heritage: Natural heritage system policies to preserve the natural environment and protect source water.·     

Climate Change: Land-use policies to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and adapt to climate change.·     

North Aldershot Planning Area: Implications of growth management, natural heritage and a rural and agricultural system in North Aldershot in the City of Burlington.

Town of Oakville Planning staff have prepared a report about the Region’s Discussion Papers. It will be presented at the Town’s online Planning and Development Council meeting on Tuesday, September 8, 2020 at 6:30 PM.  The report is Item 8 on the Agenda. The meeting will include a presentation about the ROPR by Curt Benson, Director, Planning Services and Chief Planning Official at Halton Region.

The Region wants to hear from you! The Discussion Papers, short summary pages and information on upcoming Public Information Centres are now available at halton.ca/ropr.

Please participate in the Region’s general questionnaire and/or technical questionnaire to provide feedback.
